Autonomy Corporation was founded by Michael Lynch in 1996 as an outgrowth of Cambridge Neurodynamics, and acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2011. Autonomy’s flagship product is the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) Server, an example of their concentration on so-called meaning-based computing software designed with the following goals in mind:
