COMPANY

Technology news and reviews, acquired by CBS in 2008.

In early 2013, c|Net was ready to award "Best of CES" to the Dish Hopper DVR with Slingbox, a digital video recorder, but after their parent caught wind of this, CBS ordered c|Net to remove the Dish Hopper from nomination altogether. CBS is suing Dish over a patent regarding the ability to skip commercials -- a software patent that almost certainly should never have been granted. The corporate meddling has done much damage to c|Net's credibility, and Greg Sandoval, one of their top journalists, resigned over the issue.
