Black Hawk Down (18-Dec-2001)
Director: Ridley Scott Writer: Ken Nolan Based on a book: Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War by Mark Bowden Music by: Hans Zimmer Producers: Jerry Bruckheimer; Ridley Scott Keywords: Action/Adventure, Battle of Mogadishu, Rescue Mission, Sniper A Somali warlord is playing politics with needed food supplies; elite American forces acting on behalf of UN peacekeepers are engaged in a mission to capture two of the warlord's lieutenants when their Black Hawk helicopter goes down. Exciting, non-stop action at the expense of character development, of which there is essentially none; the combat unit as a whole receives emphasis over individuals. Technically excellent propaganda, in summer blockbuster packaging.
