The Searchers (13-Mar-1956)
Director: John Ford Writer: Frank S. Nugent From novel: The Searchers by Alan LeMay Music by: Max Steiner Keywords: Western Confederate veteran Ethan Edwards returns to the home of his brother, where soon after Comanches massacre the family and carry off the two daughters. One of them is later found dead. As ten years pass, Ethan and nephew Martin Pawley continue their search and the other daughter grows up, and may have "turned Indian." John Wayne's sophisticated portrayal is much darker and more ambiguous than his typical roles, approaching villainy at times.
