ABSTRACT Remake of The Wicker Man (1973). Edward Malus, Seattle policeman reeling from a road accident witnessed in the line of duty, receives word from ex-fiancee Willow that daughter Rowan has gone missing in a neo-pagan island commune off the coast of Washington. Taking matters into his own hands, Edward charters a plane out to the secretive community, arriving to find a populace ruled by elder Sister Summersisle and dependent on honey production; every question regarding Rowan's possible death and Willow's disappearance prior to their wedding day is met with a distressing answer. Fans of Nicolas Cage will wince at his continued descent into self-parody in the lead role, while everyone else will likely laugh at the film's tone-deaf narrative and question the need for a hammy remake of a well-received cult classic.
