REVIEWS Review by Finny (posted on 18-May-2005) This has got to be one of the funniest movies ever made. John Astin is brilliant in the role of Evil Roy Slade. I first saw this movie in the mid 70's, and even now, it still makes me laugh out loud 33 years later.
There are so many funny lines and sight gags that its hard to highlight them here.
There are items like the "Stubby Index Finger" song, not to mention the title theme song.
Nobody plays an hysterically funny psychotic like Astin.
Watching Evil Roy being psychoanalyzed by Dom DeLuise is a highlight as well as lines like this,
Gang member: Hey boss, there's someone comin'
Evil Roy: Kill him"
Gang Member: It's a woman
Evil Roy: Wound her
Reading just doesnt match the delivery like watching it.
Evil Roy working as a shoe salesman for Milton Berle is hilarious.
A woman asks for something more in an "open toed look" so Roy shoots off the end of the shoe.
I'm sure the Zucker brothers must have been influenced by this movie at some stage.
As a matter of fact, I might just get the video out now and watch it again.
An absolute classic.
Review by anonymous (posted on 14-Mar-2006) I had an old home taped version of
Evil Roy Slade, that I wore out and then I found a VHS in the grocery
store one time and now I am seriously considering getting a DVD. It is
such a funny show. I recently sat down with my 12 year old son and he
loved it, laughed till we had tears flowing. My favorite line is when
Evil Roy says to one of his gang members, "Keep your eyes peeled or
I'll peel'im for ya." I don't think anybody else could have played the
role better then John Astin.
Do you know something we don't?
