Director: Jerry Jameson Writer: William Douglas Lansford Keywords: Drama, School Shooting, Sniper Story of Charles Whitman, the Texas bell tower sniper.
REVIEWS Review by Don M (posted on 2-Mar-2005) This happened just before I started my sophomore year at UT. I was not on campus at the time, but arrived back in Austin shortly thereafter.
Bullet holes were still plainly visible when I returned to campus. On the observation deck, along the "Drag" (Guadalupe Street), and on the sidewalks, gouges in the concrete marked places that Whitman's bullets had gone astray.
I had a special interest in the movie since I had (almost) lived through it. The details were fairly accurate for a movie, but of course, it had it's hokey moments, too.
I just wish docu-dramas could be as accurate (historically correct) as possible. This one was close. The biggest faux pas was the sound of a ship's horn sounding in the distance. No ocean-going vessels ever come near near Austin.
Not bad, but again, I had a special interest.
