Joseph Cotton plays Victor Barbicane, who in the days after the US Civil War has invented a new explosive, "Power X", originally intended as a weapon but as it turns out, powerful enough to send a manned vessel to the moon. Once in space, they must cope with sabotage and a pretty stowaway. Adaptation of Verne's book with wooden acting, embarrassingly bad special effects, and worst of all, devoid of all charm.
