ABSTRACT Sam Dawson is a developmentally-disabled middle-aged man and Starbucks employee, possessing the mental capacity of a seven-year old and spending his days obsessed with the Beatles. A daughter named "Lucy Diamond" by way of a homeless woman is raised in Sam's care thanks to the absence of her mother, only to be taken away by authorities at age seven when his disability is deemed a hazard; to that end, Sam convinces turbocharged lawyer Rita Harrison to take his case pro bono, setting out on a melodramatic journey sure to affect the hearts of those closest to him.
