A futuristic search-and-rescue spaceship encounters galaxy-sized trouble upon responding to a peculiar distress signal.

ABSTRACT
In the 22nd century, the six-person crew of the search-and-rescue Nightingale 229 spaceship receive a distress signal emanating from a comet mine in a far-away galaxy. The crew respond to the call like they are expected to, happening upon untold danger in the form of a strange man brought onto the ship and the gravitational pull of a massive star on the verge of a galaxy-endangering supernova.
