ABSTRACT
An international manned mission to Mars is cut short by a massive dust storm; NASA's Mark Watney is unable to make it back to the crew's landing module in time for takeoff and presumed dead. Against all odds, Watney, botanist by trade, comes to in the Martian desert not long after, relying on his skill set and ingenuity to keep himself alive in his crew's research station as he searches for a means to return home.

Ridley Scott's best, if fluffiest, film in years; critics drew comparisons to Apollo 13 and Cast Away. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor.
