ABSTRACT
Apple, a rough-and-tumble sixteen-year old young woman possessing a measure of ambition against her tough existence, finds herself torn from her drug-addict mother on account of her abusive ways. A brief stay with her estranged father, now a well-off Wall Street broker, ends when she learns of her pregnancy at the hands of a boy from the streets; left to survive on her own following her decision to carry the child, Apple eventually catches on with a shelter for pregnant young women, learning to mature into motherhood under the care of a spiritual woman by the name of Kathy.
