ABSTRACT
Teenager James Brennan's plans to take a vacation in Europe prior to studying at an Ivy League institution fall through when his parents suffer an unforeseen financial setback. Now expected to come up with money for his upcoming semester of education on his own, James takes a summer job at decaying area theme park Adventureland, falling in love with co-worker Emily Lewin as he learns a host of important lessons about life in the real world.
