Writer: Helen Deutsch

Music by: Bronislau Kaper

Leslie Caron is Ella, orphaned by the death of her mother, treated as a servant in a home full of pretty stepsisters. Estelle Winwood is her fairy klepto-godmother, stealing a gown and coach and giving Ella a makeover before the visit of Michael Wilding as Prince Charles. Departing in haste at midnight, she loses a glass slipper. Director Charles Walters tries to recreate the success of his Lili (1953) in this Cinderella retelling, falling short.

REVIEWS

Review by anonymous (posted on 7-May-2006)

This movie is a fascinating and whimsical telling of a Movie Classic. Leslie Caron is Brilliant as the house waif, Cinderella and Michael Wilding is as usual, his Dashing, Romantic and Handsome self. The scenery is stricking, the cast members excellent. Young and Old alike will enjoy this film for years to come. My one regret is that this film is not shown often enough. I believe that Movies and Actors of this caliiber, should be revived on an annual basis. My generation like to revisit our memories with movies and actors we feel comfortable with and can relate to. Movies made when Actors,Directors and Screen Plays had substainance and told a story.
