ABSTRACT
Albert Nobbs, a woman living as a man in 19th-century Ireland to cope with a harsh socioeconomic climate that discourages female independence, has spent the last thirty years of his assumed life working as a waiter at the posh Morrison's Hotel. When the eccentric and highly-dedicated Nobbs meets Hubert Page, a painter hired by the hotel owner to work in the building, he finds his outlook on life shaken, set on a different course by the arrival of an enigmatic individual who seems primed to compel him to uncover the expedient lie he has been living. Nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Makeup.
