Rat Race (30-Jul-2001)
Director: Jerry Zucker Writer: Andy Breckman Keywords: Comedy, Road Trip An enterprising casino tycoon organizes an oddball race for a large sum of money.
ABSTRACT Las Vegas casino magnate Donald Sinclair, a billionaire eager to create new events for individuals to place bets on, organizes a tantalizing competition: $2,000,000 hidden in a duffel bag in a sleepy New Mexico town four hundred miles from Sin City, up for grabs for six lucky recipients of tokens hidden in his casino's slot machines. The anything-goes competition, vaguely reminiscent of the real-world Gumball Rally, sees a cast of offbeat characters including a scheming pair of siblings and a hard-up gridiron football referee setting aside all notions of common decency for a rat race true to the film's title bet on by Sinclair's well-heeled friends and customers.
