ABSTRACT
Catholic schoolgirl Emily Rose dies shortly after being put through an exorcism performed by parish priest Father Moore, leading to a negligent homicide charge for the devout man of the cloth. Eager to avoid a massive scandal capable of rocking the Catholic Church to its very core, Moore's Archdiocese hires high-powered agnostic lawyer Erin Bruner to represent him in court, setting the stage for a battle between religion and science as she squares off against God-fearing prosecuting attorney Ethan Thomas.
