REVIEWS Review by Frejoy (posted on 16-Jun-2005) The Comic is a tribute to the funny men of the silent film. Although the film was about a ficticious actor, he resembled Harry Landon (the many wives), Chaplin (the fooling around with the actresses), and Stan Laurel (the closing scene, supposedly Laurel died in a $80 a month apartment in Santa Monica). The production was on the low budget TV-movies style, but the stars, particularly Mickey Rooney, Cornel Wilde, and Dick Van Dyke were fun to see. I am sure it was no more than a "money-grab" for all involved, but it fondly depicted a time in film that I wasn't around to see, but have read most extensively about. So, if you are a fan of silent films then sit back and enjoy this "tounge-in-cheek" bio of an era that only lasted for a brief moment.
