I love the message of this film. I was in this play back in High school and I fell in love with my character, Aunt Ruth and then I saw the movie one night after play practice and it brought me to tears. The way Gwen Verdon portrayed Anut Ruth even though she was suffering from Parkinsons was amazing. The still amazing, Tony award winning, actress still had it. Diane Keaton's adaptation of Bessie, made me really believe that she was Bessie. Although Diane has been quoted saying the biggest challege was getting into the mindset of an termally ill person, she really did it. Meryl was a perfect cast for Lee, because the role fit her and the work she's previously done, it was just...perfect. Leo's portrayl of Hank was good, however I see him being a little more distanced and "Bad boy;" to most girls out there he's just a dream and he needed to have more of an edge. I'm still not sure about De Niro as Dr. Wally. I still see someone with a more comical goofy background in the role, someone like Chevy Chase or Steve Martin. Although, he did a good job tackling the role. Doing the play and then seeing the film was a weird experiance, because even though it's the same material and characters tons of things are changed, but the film adaptation was good and I liked the way they used better incorperations of Marvin. My only wish towards the screen writers would be to keep the orginal order of the first act particularly.
