REVIEWS Review by Richard Conner (posted on 5-Sep-2007) This movie resulted some years after Bobbie Gentry's haunting and enormously popular song of the same name, popular in the late 1960's. The song, and the later movie depict characters in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, and involve a young couple's haunting but doomed romance set within places with wonderful, evocative names such as Choctaw Ridge and the Tallahassie Bridge of the general area. Robby Benson and a quietly charismatic Glynnis O'Connor play the main roles very well, and the movie does the best job it can to encompass the deeper nuances of the song. The plot has some unexpected twists and turns, and outcomes that will hold the viewers attention.
