REVIEWS Review by Mort and Lois Homer (posted on 24-Feb-2005) My wife and I watched this film that I taped about a week ago. We both found this film very enjoyable for its story line and terrific music. We both grew up with the musicals of the fifties as we were in our teens. This was the period when the music was lively. The stars were terrific. Sheree North was a terrific dancer and singer. If I remember correctly most of her movies had her do only a couple numbers. In this film she did a good amount of entertaining songs and dances. I remember years ago if she was included in the cast I knew the film would be excellent. Ernest Borgnine, Dan Dailey, Gordon MacRae were all very good in their roles as the three song writers. The Birth of The Blues song and dance features in this production has to be rated a ten. We really enjoyed this film.
Review by shari (posted on 10-Jun-2007) Very entertaining movie featuring great songs and choreography.
Definitely one of the best of the movie musicals of it's era.
I particularly enjoyed seeing a sexier side of Gordon Macrae in this movie, rarely seen in his other movies. I wish I could find a copy of it for my collection. Does anyone know why this movie has not been released on video tape or DVD?
Do you know something we don't?
