REVIEWS Review by Eleanor Lock (posted on 26-Mar-2008) Richard Widmark died yesterday,
so I thought it fitting to write this review on an exceptional
western, 'The Last Wagon'. This is my favorite western movie of all time, and it's because of Widmark's compelling performance.
Everything was 'spot on' in this film, from the fabulous Arizona
scenery in Technicolor, to the
fine supporting cast.
Widmark was a man's man, and he
demonstrated that excellently in this film. Movies today are too
explicit, the romantic scenes in this movie were wonderful because of what they didn't show, and the love between Widmark and Felicia
Farr seemed to be genuine. Widmark could do more with a look than all the films today do with
leaving nothing to the imagination!
AND, the music, that haunting love theme, added so much to the mood of the movie.
This movie has all the right ingredients, the drama, the
pathos, the romance and adventure!
They just don't make movies like this anymore!
Do you know something we don't?
