The Man Who Would Be King (17-Dec-1975)
Director: John Huston Writers: John Huston; Gladys Hill From short story: The Man who Would be King by Rudyard Kipling Music Composed and Conducted by: Maurice Jarre Producer: John Foreman Keywords: Action/Adventure, Afghanistan Sean Connery and Michael Caine are Daniel Dravot and Peachy Carnehan, British sergeants with a scheme to become kings of Kafiristan, on the present-day Afghan-Pakistan border, and loot its wealth. But in the process Daniel is seen as near-godlike by the villagers, perhaps even a descendant of Alexander the Great. This power goes to his head, much to the great concern of his co-conspirator. Adaptation of Kipling's short story is better than the story itself. Received 4 Oscar nominations including Best Screenplay.
