National Treasure (8-Nov-2004)
Director: Jon Turteltaub Writers: Jim Kouf; Cormac Wibberley; Marianne Wibberley Keywords: Action/Adventure, Treasure Hunt, Washington DC An intrepid historian hunts for treasure hidden by the Knights Templar around the time of the Revolutionary War.
ABSTRACT Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and treasure hunter descended from a long line of like-minded individuals, lives a life obsessed with uncovering a supposed "National Treasure" alluded to by grandfather John Adams Gates in a cryptic missive in 1974. Forced into a complicated standoff in the present day involving an associate-turned-rival's take-no-prisoners approach to finding the supposed "treasure", Benjamin attempts to steal the Declaration of Independence to shoot holes in skeptical National Archives officials' claims that it is impossible to plunder, doing so while trying to beat his enemies to the Knights Templar-hidden loot all along the way.
