REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 1-Aug-2005) Bullet in the Head (1990)
a.k.a. Bloodshed in the Streets was John Woo's second movie to take
place in the Viet-Nam era. The story is similar to the movie Deer
Hunter. Except the violence is real graphic and it'ss not as long.
Three childhood friends run into trouble with the local authorities
when a gang fight turns sour. Seeking a way out of Hong Kong (and a
chance to make some money) the trio head to war torn Saigon. It's there
that they see that they have only stepped out of the pan and into a
funeral pyre. Can they survive the War and each other? Find out when
you watch this blood soaked epic. A great film filled with heroism,
blood shed and a story about real brotherhood. This is John Woo's best
film and I doubt that he will ever direct a better film (even more so
since he's become a Hollywood hack). Not for all tastes. Tony Leung
Chiu Wai, Waise Lee and Jacky Cheung (the pop star) play the three
friends. Anita Yuen plays Tony Leung's wife and Simon Yam co-stars as
the C.I.A. eurasian hitman. Highly recommended.
