ABSTRACT
An American official operating abroad is killed by a terrorist, sparking an investigation fingering an Egyptian living in the United States. The suspect is sent to a CIA-run "black site", where he is subjected to torture-heavy "advanced interrogation techniques"; a CIA official witnessing the controversial interrogation suffers a crisis of conscience, soon locked into a battle to earn the man's release from the clandestine facility.
