American Pimp (13-Mar-2000)
Directors: Albert Hughes; Allen Hughes Producers: Albert Hughes; Allen Hughes; Kevin J. Messick Keywords: Documentary, Prostitution, Pimps The Hughes Brothers document all aspects of the life of the American street pimp, ranging from courtesies and protocols extended to other pimps, their treatment of the women who work for them, etc. All are black, except one white owner of a Nevada brothel. Not hard-hitting by any stretch, but not inaccurate either. Heavily produced; intermixed are scenes from classic 1970s blaxploitation films, perhaps making the documentary too entertaining.
