REVIEWS Review by Chris Fleszar (posted on 19-Dec-2008) The Day the World Ended was titled "When Time Ran Out..." in The United States. In edition to Valentina Cortesa, the film included an all star cast of Paul Newman, Jaqueline Bisset, William Holden, Burgess Meredith and many more.
In the film Valentina is married to Burgess Meredith. The couple is retired from a world famous high wire circus act. They become trapped on an island resort when a volcano erupts unexpectedly. They follow along with a group of resort guests who decide to leave to escape the lava. Unfortunately one of Valentina's best scenes is cut from the theatrical version of this film. You can see it in the video release. I won't give it away, but it is an unexpectedly emotional scene.
I love disaster movies and this is one of my favorites. Most others do not like as well. It cost $22-million to make in 1980 and grossed only $2-million in the United States.
