Major Dundee (15-Mar-1965)
Director: Sam Peckinpah Writers: Harry Julian Fink; Oscar Saul; Sam Peckinpah Music by: Christopher Caliendo Producer: Jerry Bresler Keywords: Action/Adventure, Civil War In the latter days of the Civil War, Apaches led by Sierra Charriba slaughter a family, taking some boys prisoner; Charriba also makes short work of a Cavalry regiment. Union Army Maj. Amos Dundee leads an unlikely amalgam of his own men, Confederate prisoners-of-war, civilians and others into Mexico to pursue the Apaches until they are either captured or killed. Peckinpah's work suffers because his producers at Columbia Pictures butchered it severely in editing (cutting 44 minutes from the final version), but also because the director's attention was diverted in Mexico by his own drunkenness and disinterest.
