Shirley MacLaine is Louisa Foster, who wants nothing more than true love and a simple life, but the husbands she marries invariably get caught up in their work, earn enormous fortunes, and die untimely deaths. The now-wealthier, neglected widow thinks each time, the next one will be different. Episodic dark comedy which is also light comedy; each episode explores a different film genre. Excellent script and a top-notch cavalcade of of husbands. Received Oscar nominations for Best Set Decoration and Best Costume Design.
