REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 22-Apr-2005) I have, of course, a biased opinion on
this film. I had the luxury of reading the book long before the film
debuted. I remember my grandmother writing during any free time she
had. She had taken care of others and cleaned houses and apartments in
the midst of authoring the book that would become the film that the
world knows. She has a gift for the written word that I only hope to
acheive on a level 1/4 of what she has. The setting, rural 1940's, and
the characters, Ellie, Sammy, and especially Alice were all portrayed
excellently by the cast. I enjoy, to this day, rereading the novel and
from time to time, viewing the movie again. I hope that my comments
aren't a complete surprise. --Heather Evans Tucker, GA
