It Might Get Loud (5-Sep-2008)
Director: Davis Guggenheim Keywords: Music Documentary, Rock and Roll Documentary on the electric guitar, as explored by three successful guitarists: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, The Edge of U2, and Jack White of The White Stripes. Each describes his own love affair with the instrument, describing the forces in his life that forced him to become a great guitarist in the blues/rock tradition. The Edge wanted a way out from wartorn Ireland, finding it in a wall of effects units. Page was a successful session musician, who burst out of it to make music with integrity. White comes off as a suburban kid who has crafted a career through a compelling media ploy -- as the youngest, with the most to learn from these two wealthy Europeans, he must continually explain how he has worked his way into such a meeting of the minds.
