Dune (14-Dec-1984)
Director: David Lynch Writer: David Lynch From novel: Dune by Frank Herbert Music Composed and Performed by: Toto Producer: Raffaella De Laurentiis Keywords: Sci-Fi, Giant Worms, Alan Smithee Paul Atreides, son of Duke Leto and a Bene Gesserit, leads the tribal Fremen of Arrakis to free themselves from the rule of a despotic emperor. Lavish production of Frank Herbert's epic and highly intricate novel, and next to impossible to squeeze into even a three-hour film. Saddled with an often-inappropriate rock soundtrack. This effort is much better than the TV-series remake, Dune (2000). Received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound, and Hugo nomination for Best Dramatic Presentation.
