ABSTRACT Remake of the Japanese film Ring (1998). Young journalist Rachel Keller is assigned to investigate an urban legend connected to a videotape believed to be responsible for the deaths of her niece and three other area teenagers. The videotape, so the legend goes, carries a curse placed on it by its creator, dead twelve-year old girl Samara Morgan: Copy it and show it to someone, anyone, within a week of watching it, or risk a certain death at the hands of Samara's ghost. Rachel views the tape in question, placed immediately thereafter into a chilling situation where she must work to save her own life once she learns firsthand that the supposed "legend" is all too real.
