REVIEWS

Review by Daniel Franklin (posted on 20-Mar-2009)

Run Wild Run Free is an extremely well done and entertaining film. It is the story of a young, autistic boy who is lonely, friendless, and mostly misunderstood by his parents. The boy, Phillip, (Mark Lester), spends his days wandering the moors alone until he is befriended by a retired colonel (John Mills) and the colonel's granddaughter (Fiona Fullerton). Not only does the film present a very interesting story, but is also a visual treat with the rugged beauty of the English moors as the backdrop. Run Wild Run Free can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Copies of the film are somewhat difficult to find (I found a copy on ebay), but it's well worth the effort and a valuable addition to your film library.

Review by Rick Shaffer (posted on 2-May-2008)

It's been nearly 40 years since I saw this movie. Basically, I can recall that it was filmed on an English countryside. The father figure was mean and detached. The one scene I do recall is that when Mark Lester shows his father a picture he had drawn of a bear, the father says, "I never saw a bear that looked like that." The scene hurt my feelings. It's still as strong in my memory now as then! I believe the character played by Mark runs away or something. That's all I recall. Overall, the film was quite depressing and disturbing to me.
