Good Night, and Good Luck (1-Sep-2005)
Director: George Clooney Writers: George Clooney; Grant Heslov Keywords: Drama Biographical drama follows journalist Edward R. Murrow's efforts to undermine a Joseph McCarthy-led Red Scare.
ABSTRACT Post-World War II animosity between the predominantly capitalist United States and communist Soviet Union led to the rise of "Red Scare" paranoia in America, a phenomenon marked by intense public disdain for far-leftist political thought and Wisconsin senator Joseph McCarthy's "outing" of supposed communists within the government and entertainment industry. Determined to stand in McCarthy's way was noted CBS broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, an intrepid reporter whose actions and unwavering conviction in going after his target as dramatized in Good Night, and Good Luck ultimately helped to bring down the senator despite threats made against his life and career.
