CAST REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 27-Jun-2005) I do not understand why this
movie is not on V.H.S. or D.V.D.It is a good Bette Davis-Miriam Hopkins
vehicle that stands above the 1981 remake "Rich and Famous" starring
Jacqueline Bissett and Candice Bergen. In this version that spans 20
years two childhood friends noble literary writer Kit (Davis) and selfish
romance writer Millie (Hopkins) feud over literary status, money, Millie's
long suffering husband Preston (John Loder) and daughter Deirdre (Francine
Rufo, later Dolores Moran). Davis gives a good sympathetic performance as
Kit. Hopkins gives an over-the-top performance as the jealous and
selfish Millie. This film is a must see for Davis-Hopkins fans and yes
contains the famous shake and slap scene that film buffs talk about. It
turns up on Turner Classic Movies and is not to be missed.
