Matt Calder and his son Mark find their lives interrupted after they rescue a gambler, Harry Weston, and wife Kay from an out-of-control raft. Weston is so anxious to file a mining claim that he won in a poker game that he steals Calder's horse and rifle. But Indians are on the warpath and now defenseless, must pursue Weston and Kay. Jean Negulesco completed the picture after director Otto Preminger, feuding with Marilyn Monroe, walked off the set.
