Safe Haven (13-Feb-2013)
Director: Lasse Hallstrom Writers: Leslie Bohem; Dana Stevens From novel: Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks Keywords: Drama, Mystery Cinema adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name follows the story of Katie, a young woman with a mysterious past arriving in Southport, North Carolina to escape her previous circumstances.
ABSTRACT Julianne Hough stars in this schmaltzy Harlequin-style romantic flick about Katie, a young woman who flees her home after being shown in possession of a bloody knife for the unfamiliar confines of fictional Southport, North Carolina, a small town where she finds employment as a waitress and settles in a modest residence on the edge of town. All is predictably not well, however, as she soon makes her fair share of enemies and is forced to confront her unenviable past after romancing a local widower. Widely panned by critics upon its release, Safe Haven is unlikely to leave a legacy much larger than one befitting a romantic fly-by-night tween movie of its ilk.
