A young man fated to be sacrificed in the waning days of the Mayan empire fights for his continued existence.

ABSTRACT
The once-mighty Mayan civilization faces extinction, with no clear path out of its dire predicament. Ruling elders eager to maintain their grip on power suggest human sacrifice as a means of currying the favor of the all-powerful gods, leading to the invasion and kidnapping of young Jaguar Paw from his idyllic village and planned ritual killing. Now our troubled protagonist must work quickly to save himself, casting aside his complacent ways to become a warrior eager to see another day.
