Amazing Grace and Chuck (19-May-1987)
Director: Mike Newell Writer: David Field Music: Elmer Bernstein Producer: David Field Keywords: Drama All-star little league pitcher Chuck Murdock protests nuclear weapons by ceasing to play; he is joined by Amazing Grace Smith of the Boston Celtics, and soon professional players everywhere are withholding their services. Further events warrant the extension of Chuck's protest to a vow of silence, soon taken up by all the children of the world. Unrealistic and dated Cold War drama, with some sentimental charm.
REVIEWS Review by PoohsHunnyBee (posted on 11-Feb-2008) The movie can be a little slow and optimistically predictable, but all in all, a wonderful story. It has made a measurable impact on me in my life and also on that of many fellow students who attended a class where it was featured by our film buff teacher.
Chuck is the small town all American hero who dares to stick to his beliefs at all costs; he is backed by some surprising supporters.
An all star cast of seasoned veterans and some (then) unknown newcomers.
A thought provoking, engaging story for families of all ages.
I sincerely love this film :o}
