The Last September (16-May-1999)
Director: Deborah Warner Writer: John Banville From novel: The Last September by Elizabeth Bowen Original Music by: Zbigniew Preisner Producer: Yvonne Thunder Keywords: Drama, Ireland In the early 1920s, on the cusp of the formation of the Irish Free State, an Anglo-Irish family's summer estate in Cork undergoes the final days of their colonial tenure. The eldest daughter dalliances with both a British soldier and a guerrilla fighter; other house guests do what house guests do. An excellent cast doesn't save this largely uninteresting drama.
