REVIEWS Review by anonymous (posted on 2-May-2005) OK let me start by saying I give this
movie four stars only because it's the best "Worst Movie" ever made. I
laughed so hard I nearly busted a gut. This movie, although made in
1980, is set in the futuristic world of 1994! It's a crazy plot line
loosely based on ADAM & EVE yet performed with campy songs and
costumes that collectively, probably utilzed a good portion of the
world's mylar at the time of production. With crazy dance numbers and
an all too crazy plot... enter the dictatorship of the BIM world where
our hero defies the Devil's contract and declines a lucrative recording
contract on to rescue his woman from the evil BIM leader and live with
the hippies of 1960. The ending of the film I do not wish to give away.
All I'll say is that it truly defines the Deus Ex Machina style where
everything is wrapped up a little too neatly, and a little too quickly.
(Maybe 'cause we just want to see more bad production numbers!) Look
really hard and you'll be able to see two distinctive cameos... 1)
Exotic music legend YMA SUMAC and Staying Alive/ reality tv host Fiona
Hughs.
Review by AusMovieMad (posted on 26-Feb-2008) Are you looking for a campy, disco style version of the Adam and Eve story?
Well look no further because The Apple has it all.
Glam rock disco, young lovers, the devil and even Hippies.
It's light fluff but enjoyable fluff none the less and the musical numbers are quite good.
I first saw this film on video in the early 80's (liked it) and now have it on DVD.
The Apple, take a bite, I think you'll be back for more.
Do you know something we don't?
