ABSTRACT Alexander is a pre-teen in a dysfunctional family, pining for a life in Australia as he deals with his numerous siblings, unemployed father, and overworked mother. Alexander, frustrated with his place in the world while everyone else in his family seems to be enjoying theirs, makes a wish for them to understand his plight; his desires are fulfilled in a big way as a slew of ridiculous events and occurrences derail Alexander's family's good day into a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad one.
