Kismet (22-Aug-1944)
Director: William Dieterle Writer: John Meehan From a play by: Edward Knoblock Musical Score: Herbert Stothart Producer: Everett Riskin Keywords: Fantasy In this exotic spectacle straight out of Arabian Nights, a sly beggar wants to marry his daughter to a Grand Vizier. But before this can happen, he is arrested for theft and offered clemency in exchange for killing one of the Vizier's rivals. Often overshadowed by Minnelli's Kismet (1955), this film is an excellent example of early Technicolor, and Dietrich sparkles -- literally.
