The Littlest Rebel (22-Nov-1935)
Director: David Butler Writer: Edwin Burke From a play: The Littlest Rebel by Edward Peple Musical Arrangement: Cyril Mockridge Keywords: Drama, Comedy, Civil War On a plantation in an overly idealized South, young Virgie's birthday party is interrupted by news of war between the states. Virgie's father Herbert Cary leaves to fight, and later, Yankees take over their plantation, which is subsequently burnt to the ground. When Cary returns, he is arrested as a spy and faces execution unless Virgie can find a way to stop it. This is definitely the film to watch if you want to see Shirley Temple in blackface.
