Dear White People (18-Jan-2014)
Director: Justin Simien Writer: Justin Simien Keywords: Comedy, Drama, Halloween, College Four African-American Ivy League college students' lives converge during a riot over an ill-advised themed campus party.
ABSTRACT Troy Fairbanks, Sam White, Coco Conners, and Lionel Higgins are four African-American students at the overwhelmingly Caucasian Winchester University; Troy is an All-American wunderkind, Sam is a militant student radio host, Coco is a pragmatist desiring a career in television, and Lionel is a quiet gay man, more interested in fitting in with any given crowd than conforming to "black" or "white" culture. Hell breaks loose when Sam supplants Troy as leader of a predominantly black residence hall effectively gentrified by a university-backed "Randomization of Housing Act", producing tensions bringing the story's characters together when a riot ensues over a white-organized "African-American"-themed campus party.
