ABSTRACT San Francisco-area attorney Claire Kubik's agreeable existence is shattered when husband Tom's heretofore unknown secret identity, that of an ex-soldier named Ron Chapman wanted for the murder of El Salvadorans back in the late 1980s, is revealed during a police investigation into a break-in at their home.
