Casanova (3-Sep-2005)
Director: Lasse Hallstrom Writers: Michael Cristofer; Jeffrey Hatcher; Kimberly Simi Keywords: Action/Adventure, Biography Giacomo Casanova lives, loves, gets entangled in a series of misunderstandings, and comes into conflict with a puritanical regime.
ABSTRACT Giacomo Casanova is a handsome, well-read fixture of 18th-century Venetian society, so "renowned" for his sexual escapades that his travels are referenced by puppet theaters in the city. Accustomed to a life free of rejection, Casanova courts feminist temptress Francesca, only to be turned down just as her mother plans to marry her off to a rich man from Genoa. A series of misunderstandings and ruses borne out of Casanova's resentment towards the monied suitor ensues, resulting in the young lover being brought before the Venetian Inquisition for multiple crimes against the regime's moral code.
