ABSTRACT Harvard journalism student Matt Bruckner is expelled from college after cocaine belonging to roommate Jeremy Van Holden is discovered in his possession, accepting $10,000 as payment for taking the fall for his well-connected classmate. Relocating to London to spend time with sister Shannon and family as part of an attempt to get his life back on track, Matt falls in with Pete, a Cockney brute in charge of an area soccer "hooligan" firm, soon becoming enveloped in the oft-violent underworld of a cottage industry revolving around the arranging of fights after contentious matches between teams.
